The end of 2019 is coming to a close fast and what a year it has been. Milnerton Golf Club has by all accounts had a good year and I am confident that the members will be pleased with the results once December 2019 trading month closes. The number of rounds projected for 2019 is very close to last year’s rounds (49,400), which is encouraging in the current economic conditions. The number of visitors (overseas and affiliated) has been a solid contribution to the rounds and you the members of the club.
In my last communication, I highlighted the project update and would like to give you a further progress report.
1. The lounge furniture and ceilings are completed and looking great. By all accounts, the members appear to be happy with the upgrade and colour choices. The halfway house furniture needs to be completed in quarter one of 2020 plus the bar area and tiles.
2. The toilets are complete and the result is outstanding. The new look is a premium upgrade and would like to thank all involved from the builders to the décor/design team for an outstanding effort.
3. The entrance to the club and the passage remains a project for the first quarter 2020. The new tiling at the entrance is part of the project, the balance to follow.
4. The dune project in front of Bossa ( XMaestro) is still on track, a few council approvals still required to commence the project in 2020 before the winter.
5. The road to the 10th. The Committee and the Board of Governors will be discussing in January 2020, as to when this project will commence.
6. The raising of the dam wall at the 7th is also complete. The reason for the raising of the wall closer to the pump house is to store additional water from Potsdam in order to hold 21days reserve should we not receive our daily allocation of water from Potsdam. The general idea is to explore the 7th dam and the 13th dam on the left for long-term storage capacity beyond 2020.
7. General maintenance on clubhouse will be ongoing with reference to painting and structural repairs.
8. Bossa – Good Times Bar is now up and running under new management and we wish them all the success. I would like to encourage members to support Bossa in the future.
I would like to thank the members for their patience during the renovations of the kitchen, the restrooms, and the 19th halfway house and bar furniture replacement. The progress has been positive the past year, still many projects and challenges to face in 2020. The momentum is with the club and its members now and we need to build on it in a positive manner.
In closing, I would like to take this opportunity to wish you and your family a blessed festive season, all the very best for 2020 – keep on enjoying this most magnificent game we call golf – and here’s to great golfing in 2020.
All the very best and safe travels over the festive season.
Kind Regards
Peter Pretorius
