Lorette Hegie

President

I exchanged the tennis court for Milnerton golf course’s scenic fairways 16 years ago and I have no regrets.

Taking up a new sport was challenging to say the least. I had to be brave to enter competitions even with a maximum handicap but it was lots of fun and part of the learning curve. All these years later and my golf is still work in progress.

I play league for the club and have served on the committee for 14 years as a committee member, Vice Captain, Captain and now as President.

Through golf, I have not only met amazing people but I’m learning a lot from them and Milnerton GC remains close to my heart.

Ntsotiseng (aka Ntsoti) Morojele

Captain

I’m left-handed but I play golf right-handed which I still can’t explain except to say it felt natural from the first time I picked up a golf club.

I started golf in late 2009 and soon after I joined Playmoregolf and played social golf with friends. During this time, I also entered various golf competitions and one of my highlights was making it to the BMW Golf Cup International regionals in Fancourt in 2011. By this time I was hooked.

I joined Milnerton GC in 2017. I enjoy the ladies golf events and socials. I have also been privileged to play League for the club since 2019.

I have served on the Ladies Committee since 2019 and was elected Lady Captain in 2022. I look forward to welcoming more ladies to the club during my Captaincy and to ensuring that members and visitors alike have a great time here.

Judy Rae Teixeira

Vice-Captain

All my adult life golf was the one sport I would stay up all night to watch. I simply love the game.

I joined MGC 9 years ago as a full member. I play every Saturday and most Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Everyday I play I try better my best round. Some days I succeed & some days I don’t. That’s golf! That’s why we keep coming back.

I have also recently participated at League which is an honour to represent the club and is also fun competition.

Karien van Rooyen

Hon. Treasurer

I am a relative beginner to golf, as I only started about 4 years ago in my late forties. I love the game of golf and try and play as often as I can. Still working on getting that handicap down and my next goal is to break 100.

Regardless if I play well or badly on the day my motto is to always enjoy it, still the best way to spend your day especially at Milnerton where we have the Mountain, the sea and beautiful bird life.

I’m in my second year as a member of the committee.

Les MacFarlane

Hon. Secretary

I joined Milnerton Golf Club in 1997 but due to work commitments was only able to play on weekends.

Following my retirement in 2008 I became Secretary for the Ladies Section and have enjoyed getting to know so many of the Ladies. I had the honour of being appointed Lady Captain from 2016 to 2018 and also Lady President from 2019 to 2021 and now remain in the Hon.Secretary position.

I am often asked why I belong to MGC as I live in the Southern Suburbs, but I could never leave the fabulous views from the course, stunning sunsets from the 19th hole as well as the great spirit of camaraderie amongst the members.

Sylvia Crotz

Committee Member

I joined Milnerton golf club in April 2016 as I decided the only way to improve my game is to start playing at least once a week. My golf has improved since I joined as I only played golf every second month and then once a month before joining Milnerton. I did not know any of the ladies at the time however, I am not sorry I joined as all the ladies were very friendly and helpful as I did not know the course.

It’s six years now and I still enjoy playing at Milnerton as the course is beautiful and the scenery is one of a kind. When I play bad golf I just think of the wonderful walk, the lovely company, the view and fresh sea breeze I enjoyed.

I have been a member of the Ladies Committee since 2019 and a Bronze League member for the club.

Ros Howard

League Manager

I started playing golf approximately 28 years ago, at a golf course in the Northern Cape. My father bought me my first set of irons, as he was a golfer, and he was very happy that I decided to take up the sport.

I moved to Cape Town in 2002 and had already joined Bellville Golf Club. I was only a member there for approximately 3 years, when I decided to join Milnerton Golf Club. I have not regretted joining Milnerton, as I find the members very friendly.

I have been on the Ladies Committee for most of the time that I have been a member of the club, having been Lady Vice Captain, then Lady Captain. I am now in charge of the Ladies League, which I enjoy doing.

I would like to see the ladies section grow, as I realize that we face difficult times, what with COVID, and financial issues which most people have to endure.

I wish Milnerton Golf Club great success for the unforeseeable future.
