We Have Gone Cashless

Welcome to 2023 !!!

Let’s hope that it brings us all that we wish for.

What do we wish for? This question is to all our Members – let your Captain and his Committee know what your wishes are. We cannot please everyone but we can try our best if we know what would make your time at the club more enjoyable. Do this collectable and in writing. Stop complaining amongst yourselves and let us know.

Our biggest challenge for 2023 is still to try and sort out our water problems. We are busy looking where the best spot is to drill boreholes and if we can find sufficient water in the first hole, we will then look at another one or two holes.

We found water on the fairways of the 8th, 12th and 14th. The 14th would be ideal as it is close to the pump house and dams. It looks like the one on the 12th is the best one. If we are lucky and the water is suitable for our fairways, this will be a bonus. We have placed an order with a drilling company and hopefully you will see some action soonest.

“Billy’s road”, as it is known, is progressing well and while I was hoping that the first section would have been completed last year, I should have known better that nothing gets finished on time. I am hoping to start on the second section shortly. (All advise welcome.)

As you will see our new fleet of Golf Carts have arrived and are looking good. We have a lot of visitors at present so the carts are been well used and as you know they are a great source of income. You may have also seen our new fleet of Hand Trolleys – again it should also bring in good revenue. We have replaced most of our Golf Clubs that we hire out and they have paid for themselves in the few weeks that we have had them.

Half way House at the 10th – we are looking at plans for the upgrade and will keep you posted on progress.

The Driving Range is looking great thanks to Arno and Franci. Please continue to give them your support.

Once again I appeal to you to look after our course and repair your divots and pitch marks and rake the bunkers. After all it is your Course, so help look after it.

Golf League Men’s and Ladies has begun. Our Masters and Mid AM won their 1st game. Well done and we wish you great success for 2023. Bring Home the Trophy. Our Ladies had some success in their first game. Well Done!!

Where in the world would you get such a view whilst playing Golf?

Which are you ?

Some members keep a group strong
While others join in just to belong
Some dig right in and serve with Pride
Some go along just for the ride

Lady Captain’s Corner

We ended 2022 on a high with a well-attended year-end function. Once again congratulations to all the winners in the different categories.

Since coming back from the holidays, we have had a couple of very successful, well-attended competitions and I have no doubt we will keep this up throughout the year.

Also, quite a few ladies have shown an interest in improving their game and are getting on-site coaching with Arno Marais of Loots Golf Tours. This is definitely a good sign and further indication that we’re planning to enjoy lots of good golf in the year.

As far as 2023 league is concerned, we will be participating in the Western Province’s 2nd League (Silver) and 5th League (Bronze) divisions. We had our first matches on the 24th January, kitted out in our new shirts. The Bronzies won 2/1 against Bellville – well done to them and unfortunately the Silvers didn’t do well; and it wasn’t for lack of trying!!! Better luck next time.

To new members to our growing family – welcome to Millies. If we haven’t met, please feel free to get in touch with me and work out how we can get you going. You are also welcome to pop in to the club on a Tuesday after golf for amazing sundowners.
