Newsletter | June 2024
There is very little to report on this month. I refer back to my report of last month where I requested some feedback from you the Members and am sad to report I received nothing.
Well done to our Mid Am team on their great win. Now it is up to our Harry Solomon Team to bring home the Cup. We are all behind you – Go Boys!
Congratulations to Alan Pearson on Winning the Club Match Play trophy and well played to the runner up Peter Pretorius. Congratulations to Megan Hattle on winning the WP Ladies Silver Division Mid Am – both Nett & Gross. Well played Megan – keep it up !!
As it is now Winter time please support Arno on the Driving Range. As you can see they are doing a fantastic job. Speaking of Arno, for those who don’t know, he shot a 61 on Saturday 25/5/24, which would have been a course record had there not been placing allowed. Well done Arno.

Monthly Golf Fixtures & Results
Congratulations to our Mid-Am League team who beat Clovelly Country Club in the Western Province Golf Mid-Amateur League Final held on Sunday the 19th of May at Metropolitan Golf Club.
Lady Captain’s Corner
A hearty hello to everyone,
Woke up with a bang last week at the realization that we are at the end of May almost starting June which brings us half way through the year already. Kind of a frightening thought.
I would like to welcome 3 new Ladies into our fold – Marina Gruttner, Cherry Mulder-Williams and Lisa Williams. We look forward to you playing with us on Tuesdays.
We have had some great turn outs for our Tuesday games and look forward to lots more as the Committee strive to make some fun days.
The Ladies that went to Hermanus for the Interclub had a “Whale” of a time. Unfortunately they did not come home with the Trophy but most important they had a good time and came home safely.
We had the privilege of playing in George at the beginning of the Month and enjoyed the stunning beauty of Montague Course and the Outeniqua. To Highlight our stay we were treated to a game at The Links. The experience in totality is beyond words. We had the most perfect weather and one of us missed a hole in one by a millimeter.
Speaking of Hole-In-One – congratulations to Cara Gorlei on her first Ace in Germany.
On Sunday the 26th The WP Women’s Mid-Am & Seniors Championship was held at our Golf Club, Milnerton. We have a reigning Champ, Megain Hattle. She won the Silver Division both Nett & Gross. Well played Megan and we thank your Caddie, Dawn, on your behalf, for keeping you focused.
The Ladies that played this Comp were very complimentary of our Golf Course in that it’s the best they have ever seen it. Vanessa Smith was in awe of the condition of our course.
On the 6th of June we as the Committee are treating our “older members” to a Joyful tea. We look forward to this and trust that they will all be able to attend and have a special time.
Our League Teams are not doing too well to date. It is a struggle for us, but for the remaining League games we hope to gain a few steps higher on the ladder.
For now that is it from me, wishing you good and happy golfing days in June.

Golf Course Report
Hi All Members,
Our course is playing at its best it can be, but for the patches on the fairways which we will keep Hollowtyning to help the water soak into it instead of running off it. This we will keep doing through water as I do see a bit of improvement in those areas. At the moment we will be cutting back the bushes on the back of the 18th, around the driving range and the back of the 5th green as well as left of the 6th green.
The levelling out of the 11th and 14th tee boxes will begin the first week of June. Our surrounds of the greens are coming on very nicely and I once again ask all to keep the golf cars off it, it helps a lot.
Till my next feedback,
Happy golfing.
Regards
Shaun Buchanan
